WAB Curated seeks to make visual art and film more accessible to wider audiences through innovative curatorial practices. It is a project supported by the art and film department at WAB with input from students and faculty.

The display and sharing of creative works is an integral part of the artistic process. We aim to bring art out of studios and relate more closely with the campus community and broader digital spaces. By displaying works in interaction with one another and new audiences, we hope to activate each piece more fully.

Our goal is not only to collaborate with artists and filmmakers in promoting their work but also to actively participate in the creative process from concept development through completion. Additionally, we want to position WAB Curated as a considered option for artists - a platform that facilitates greater visibility and dissemination of visual works. We are committed to thinking beyond traditional exhibition models and exploring new ways artwork can be presented.

Our guiding principles

  1. An exhibition is more than a showcase of finished products - it is an ongoing dialogue.

  2. Exhibitions must reach diverse audiences. Artistry should be accessible to all.

  3. Interplay between artworks is as important as individual meaning.

  4. No exhibition space is neutral; context shapes experience.

  5. Artworks are not static - they evolve through reinterpretation and mutation over time.

  6. Creativity knows no bounds; all spaces can be platforms for expression.

  7. There are no right or wrong interpretations - art invites personal reflection.

  8. Curators must listen with an open mind to what artworks communicate.

  9. Curators can thoughtfully compose artworks in relation to one another.

  10. Intellectual rigor, not trends, should guide curation.
